Brothers Broken – A Powerful Story of Family, Music, and Redemption Arrives on VOD April 28

A hit song. A fractured family. A lifetime of consequences.

Brothers Broken, the powerful new documentary from director Geoff Levin, tells the extraordinary true story of two brothers whose lives – and relationship – were torn apart by Scientology, and their decades-long journey back to one another. The film centers on Geoff and Robbie Levin, founding members of the 1960s rock band PEOPLE!, best known for their Capitol Records hit “I Love You.” At the height of their success, the brothers made a life-altering decision to join Scientology – one that would derail their rising music careers and ultimately divide them for nearly 30 years.

Brothers Broken traces their remarkable 60-year journey, from the highs of rock ‘n’ roll fame to the depths of manipulation, estrangement, and personal loss. After enduring nearly five decades of trauma – including 28 years of separation after Geoff disowned Robbie for leaving the church – the brothers reunite to confront their shared past and begin the difficult process of healing.

Blending music nostalgia with a gripping exposé, the film features never-before-seen archival footage and powerful interviews, including insight from former senior Scientology official Mike Rinder, whose perspective underscores the challenges of breaking free from the organization.

At its core, Brothers Broken is a story about redemption. Geoff Levin, who spent 46 years deeply embedded within Scientology – including working closely with L. Ron Hubbard and performing in hundreds of church events – now reflects on his role in bringing others into the organization. Through this film, the brothers aim to shed light on the destructive impact of indoctrination, particularly its ability to fracture families.

With its mix of intimate storytelling and broader cultural commentary, Brothers Broken offers a rare and unflinching look at the long-term consequences of control, belief, and separation – while ultimately delivering a message of resilience, understanding, and hope.
