Spring of the Vanishing, the powerful new documentary from filmmaker Andrew Glazer, will be available to rent or buy on VOD beginning April 14, 2026. The film tells a deeply personal and unsettling true story of disappearance, corruption, and one mother’s determination to find answers amid a conspiracy of silence.

A Story Rooted in Real Events

The documentary centers on Jorge Dominguez, an 18-year-old U.S.-born teenager who vanished in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, during a 2018 military operation. He was one of dozens of people reported missing during that time, as allegations grew around a U.S.-trained Mexican special forces unit accused of carrying out forced disappearances.

At the heart of the story is Jorge’s mother, Maria Elena Dominguez, whose search for her son becomes the emotional core of the film. Through her strength and persistence, Spring of the Vanishing shines a light on the pain endured by families still searching for loved ones who never returned home.

A Human Story Behind the Headlines

While the film explores larger issues of violence, power, and accountability, it never loses sight of the people most affected. Through interviews, archival footage, and on-the-ground reporting, Glazer builds a clear and compelling picture of what happened – and why these stories matter. The result is both investigative and deeply personal, giving audiences a chance to connect with a tragedy that too often goes unseen.

The film had its World Premiere at the prestigious Santa Barbara International Film Festival in 2025 and received an 8/10 from Film Threat
